Spanish Verbs with Irregular 'Yo' Form
Irregular Present Tense Yo Forms
Verbs that are regular in all present tense forms except for the first-person singular (yo), which has a unique ending.
Many common Spanish verbs exhibit irregularity only in the 'yo' (I) form in the present tense. These are often categorized as: 'go-verbs' where the ending becomes -go (e.g., hacer -> hago, poner -> pongo, salir -> salgo, tener -> tengo), verbs ending in -zco (e.g., conocer -> conozco, traducir -> traduzco), and completely unique forms (e.g., saber -> sé, dar -> doy, ver -> veo). Knowing these is crucial because all other forms follow regular patterns.
