Japanese Direction Particles e and ni
Particles e and ni (へ / に)
The particles "e" (へ) and "ni" (に) indicate movement toward a destination or location.
The particle "e" (written as hiragana へ but pronounced as "e") is used strictly for direction of movement (towards). The particle "ni" (に) has a broader usage, specifying a exact destination, point of time, or static location.
Examples
にほんへいきます。 (Nihon e ikimasu.)
I am going to Japan.
がっこうにいます。 (Gakkō ni imasu.)
I am at school.
しちじにおきます。 (Shichi-ji ni okimasu.)
I wake up at seven o'clock.
