Polish Pluperfect Tense

czas zaprzeszły

The pluperfect is an archaic Polish tense indicating an action that happened before another past event.

The Pluperfect tense in Polish (czas zaprzeszły) is formed by combining the past tense of the main verb with the past tense of "być" (to be), e.g., "napisałem był" (I had written). While standard in the 19th century, it is extremely rare in modern Polish and mostly found in literature or legal documents.
