Polish verbs are grouped into four main conjugation classes in the present tense based on the endings of the first-person singular (ja) and second-person singular (ty): 1) -am/-asz (e.g., czytać -> czytam, czytasz), 2) -em/-esz (e.g., rozumieć -> rozumiem, rozumiesz), 3) -uję/-ujesz (e.g., kupować -> kupuję, kupujesz), and 4) -ę/-isz or -ę/-ysz (e.g., robić -> robię, robisz; słyszeć -> słyszę, słyszysz).
