Present Tense Verb Conjugation in German
Präsenskonjugation
The formation of present tense verbs by adding specific endings (-e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en) to the verb stem.
To conjugate regular verbs in the present tense (Präsens) in German, you take the infinitive verb, remove the "-en" ending to find the stem, and add the personal endings: ich (-e), du (-st), er/sie/es (-t), wir (-en), ihr (-t), sie/Sie (-en). For strong verbs, the stem vowel changes in the 2nd (du) and 3rd (er/sie/es) person singular (e.g., e -> i/ie, a -> ä). For example, "lesen" becomes "du liest" and "schlafen" becomes "er schläft".
