Spanish Irregular Present Subjunctive
Irregular Present Subjunctive Verbs
Verbs that do not follow the standard rules for forming the present subjunctive (e.g., dar, estar, ir, saber, ser).
Most verbs form the present subjunctive by taking the 'yo' form of the present indicative, dropping the -o, and adding opposite endings. However, verbs with irregular 'yo' forms that do not end in -o, plus a few others, have unique subjunctive conjugations. The five primary irregular subjunctive verbs are: dar (dé), estar (esté), ir (vaya), saber (sepa), and ser (sea). Memory trick: the acronym DISHES (Dar, Ir, Ser, Haber - haya, Estar, Saber) helps recall them.
