Japanese Particles kara and made

Particles kara and made (から / まで)

The particles "kara" (from) and "made" (until/to) show limits of time or space.

The particle "kara" (から) means "from" in terms of time, origin, or space. The particle "made" (まで) means "to" or "until". Together, they are frequently used in the structure "from A to B".

Examples

きょうとからとうきょうまでいきます。 (Kyōto kara Tōkyō made ikimasu.)

I am traveling from Kyoto to Tokyo.

くじからごじまでしごとをします。 (Ku-ji kara go-ji made shigoto o shimasu.)

I work from 9 to 5.

ここからそこまで。 (Koko kara soko made.)
