Formed with auxiliary aș, ai, ar, am, ați, ar + short infinitive, the conditional expresses hypothetical scenarios, polite requests, and wishes (aș dori o cafea).

Morphological Formula: Auxiliary series (aș, ai, ar, am, ați, ar) + Short Infinitive
Conjugation Paradigm: - eu aș citi (I would read) - tu ai citi (you would read) - el/ea ar citi (he/she would read) - noi am citi (we would read) - voi ați citi (you would read) - ei/ele ar citi (they would read).
Conditional of 'a fi' (to be): eu aș fi, tu ai fi, el ar fi, noi am fi, voi ați fi, ei ar fi.
Primary Communicative Functions: 1. Hypothetical Conditionals ('If ... would'): Used in both the dacă (if) conditional clause and the main consequence clause: - Dacă aș avea timp, aș călători mai mult (If I had time, I would travel more). 2. Polite Requests & Desires: Softens commands and requests: - *Aș dori o cafea, vă rog (I would like a coffee, please). - Ai putea să mă ajuți?* (Could you help me?).
Notice that both the 3rd person singular and plural use the identical auxiliary form ar (el ar veni / ei ar veni).
