The Future Tense (Budoucí čas) in Czech
Future Tense Formation (Budoucí čas)
Imperfective verbs form compound future with auxiliary budu + infinitive (budu číst), while perfective verbs express future via present conjugation (přečtu).
In Czech, the *Future Tense (Budoucí čas)* is governed strictly by the verbal aspect of the chosen verb:
*1. Compound Future of Imperfective Verbs (Složený budoucí čas nedokonavý): Used for ongoing processes, continuous states, or habitual activities in the future. Formed with the future auxiliary of být plus the short infinitive: budu, budeš, bude, budeme, budete, budou + Infinitive - zítra budu pracovat (tomorrow I will be working) - co budeš dělat? (what will you be doing?) - oni budou studovat* (they will be studying).
*2. Simple Future of Perfective Verbs (Jednoduchý budoucí čas dokonavý): Used for completed single achievements, milestones, and results in the future. Because perfective verbs cannot describe the ongoing present moment, their present-tense conjugational forms express absolute future time: - napíšu (I will write / finish writing) - koupíme (we will purchase) - uděláte (you will accomplish/do) - přečtou* (they will read through).
Common Error: Never combine budu with a perfective verb (Budu napsat is completely ungrammatical in Czech).

Příští týden budu intenzivně pracovat na novém vědeckém výzkumu.
Next week I will be working intensively on new scientific research.
Zítra ráno vám pošlu všechny potřebné podklady pro důležité jednání.
Tomorrow morning I will send you all the necessary materials for the important meeting.
Co budete dělat tento víkend se svými zahraničními přáteli?
What will you be doing this weekend with your foreign friends?
Náš tým dokončí celou rekonstrukci historického mostu do konce roku.
Our team will complete the entire reconstruction of the historic bridge by the end of the year.
