Reflexive & Reciprocal Verbs in Italian (alzarsi, lavarsi, incontrarsi)

In Italian grammar, *Reflexive Verbs (Verbi riflessivi) and Reciprocal Verbs (Verbi reciproci) are formed by conjugating the verb alongside dedicated unstressed reflexive clitic pronouns (pronomi riflessivi*):

1. The Reflexive Pronoun Series: - 1st sg.: mi (io mi lavo - I wash myself) - 2nd sg.: ti (tu ti lavi) - 3rd sg.: si (lui/lei si lava) - 1st pl.: ci (noi ci laviamo) - 2nd pl.: vi (voi vi lavate) - 3rd pl.: si (loro si lavano).

2. Categories of Reflexives: - *Direct Reflexive (Riflessivi diretti): Action directed onto oneself (alzarsi = to get up, vestirsi = to dress oneself, pettinarsi = to comb one's hair). - Apparent Reflexive (Riflessivi apparenti): With a direct object: Mi lavo le mani (I wash my hands, lit.
