Participles and Relative Clauses (Есімшелер: -ған, -атын, -ар)
Kazakh forms relative clauses pre-nominally using participles (-ған/-ген, -атын/-етін, -ар/-ер) without relative pronouns like 'who' or 'which'.
Kazakh has no relative pronouns corresponding to English who, which, that. Instead, all relative and attributive clauses are constructed using *Participles (Есімшелер)* placed directly before the modified head noun (pre-nominal modification).
Three Primary Participle Types: 1. Past / Completed Participle (-ған / -ген, -қан / -кен): Modifies subjects or objects for past/completed actions: - Кеше кел-ген қонақтар (The guests who arrived yesterday) - Мен оқы-ған кітап (The book that I read / my-read book) - Біз тұр-ған үй (The house where we lived). 2. Present / Habitual Participle (-атын / -етін, -йтын / -йтін): Expresses ongoing, habitual, or characteristic actions: - Жақсы оқи-тын оқушы (The student who studies well) - Біз бара-тын мектеп (The school where we go) - Күнде шыға-тын газет (The newspaper that comes out daily). 3. Future / Prospective Participle (-ар / -ер, -мақ / -мек): Expresses future or prospective actions: - Айтыл-ар сөз (The word that will be said) - Көр-ер қызық (The interesting thing to be seen).
Declension & Nominalization: Participles can drop the head noun (субстантивация) and take plural and case suffixes directly: Келген-дер орындыққа отырды (Those who came sat on the chairs).

The young scientist who made a presentation at yesterday's scientific conference received a big award.

All of the teachers who teach at our school are very qualified specialists.

Asqar gave the interesting book that he had borrowed from the library and read to his friend.
