Question Formation & Interrogative Words in Romanian

In Romanian, *Interrogative Clauses (propozițiile interogative) are constructed simply and intuitively without auxiliary inversion particles like English do/does or French est-ce que*:

1. Polar (Yes/No) Questions: - Formed simply with rising sentence-final intonation on declarative syntax: Vii mâine la școală? (Are you coming to school tomorrow?). - For rhetorical, doubtful, or reflective wondering ('I wonder if...'), the particle oare is introduced: Oare va ploua mâine? (I wonder, will it rain tomorrow?). - Question tags like nu-i așa? or așa-i? correspond to English 'isn't it?' / 'right?'.

2. Wh-Questions (Information Questions): - Romanian places the *Interrogative Word (cuvântul interogativ) at the front of the clause, usually triggering subject-verb inversion: - Cine? (Who?): Cine a sosit? (Who arrived?) → Oblique Cui? (To whom?), Accusative with pe: Pe cine cauți? (Whom are you looking for?). - Ce? (What?): Ce faci? (What are you doing?), Ce carte citești?
