Compound Future Tense in Ukrainian (буду + infinitive)

Compound Analytic Future (Складений майбутній час: буду + інфінітив)

The compound future tense is formed with the conjugated auxiliary verb 'бути' (буду, будеш, буде...) + imperfective infinitive, expressing ongoing future actions.

In Ukrainian, the imperfective future can be expressed in two parallel ways: the Analytic Compound Future (складена форма) and the Synthetic Simple Future (проста форма: робитиму). Both convey continuous, habitual, or unfinished actions in the future.

The Analytic Compound Future is constructed using the conjugated future forms of the auxiliary verb бути (to be) followed by the imperfective infinitive: - я буду читати (I will read / will be reading) - ти будеш читати (you will read) - він / вона / воно буде читати (he/she/it will read) - ми будемо читати (we will read) - ви будете читати (you will read) - вони будуть читати (they will read)

Stylistic nuances: While the synthetic form (читатиму) is highly poetic and typically Ukrainian, the analytic compound form (буду читати) is completely standard and widely used across all registers of modern Ukrainian. Note that perfective verbs cannot form a compound future with бути — perfective futures are always simple prefixed forms (прочитаю).
