Postpositions (Септеулік шылаулар) in Kazakh

Kazakh is a strictly head-final language and therefore uses *Postpositions (Септеулік шылаулар)* placed immediately after the noun they modify, rather than prepositions. Each postposition strictly governs a specific nominal case:

1. Postpositions governing the Nominative Case (or Genitive on Pronouns): - үшін (for, in order to): балалар үшін (for the children), мен үшін (for me). - туралы / жайында (about, concerning): тарих туралы (about history), ол туралы (about him). - сияқты / секілді (like, as, similar to): құс сияқты (like a bird), бала сияқты (like a child). - арқылы (through, via, by means of): интернет арқылы (via the internet). 2. Postpositions governing the Dative Case (-ға/-ге, -қа/-ке): - дейін / шейін (until, up to): кешке дейін (until evening), қалаға дейін (up to the city). - қарай / таман (towards, in the direction of): мектепке қарай (towards the school). - сайын (every, each): жыл сайын (every year), күн сайын (daily). 3. Postpositions governing the Ablative Case (-дан/-ден, -тан/-тен, -нан/-нен): - кейін / соң (after): сабақтан кейін (after the lesson), түстен кейін (in the afternoon). - бұрын / әрі (before, ago): жиналыстан бұрын (before the meeting), екі жыл бұрын (two years ago). - басқа / бөлек (except, besides, other than): сенен басқа (except for you).

Learners must memorize each postposition along with its governed case to avoid ungrammatical case-postposition mismatches.
