Demonstrative Pronouns (Ukazovacie zámená: ten, tá, to, tí, tie, tento, tamten)
Demonstratives point to entities: ten (that masc.), tá (that fem.), to (that neut.), tí (those anim. pl.), tie (those inanim./fem./neut. pl.), modified by -to for proximity (tento) and tam- for distance (tamten).
In Slovak grammar, *Demonstrative Pronouns (Ukazovacie zámená)* point to specific entities in spatial, temporal, or discourse contexts:
*1. Base Forms (ten / tá / to): - Masculine: ten (sg.) → tí (animate pl.) / tie (inanimate pl.) - Feminine: tá (sg.) → tie (pl.) - Neuter: to (sg.) → tie* (pl.).
2. Proximity and Distance Modifications: - Proximity (This here): Suffixing -to: tento chlapec (this boy), táto kniha (this book), toto auto (this car), títo študenti (these students), tieto domy (these houses). - Distance (That over there): Prefixing tam-: tamten dom (that house over there), tamtá žena (that woman over there), tamto okno (that window over there). - Quality/Type: týkajúci sa / taký, taká, také (such / like this), onaký.
3. The Universal Neuter Demonstrative 'To': - Used impersonally as 'this is / that is / it': Čo je to? — To je môj nový počítač. (What is this? — That is my new computer). - To je pravda. (That is true).
Learner Mistake: Forgetting the masculine animate plural distinction: tí dobrí študenti (animate men: tí) vs. tie pekné stoly / ženy / mestá (all other plurals: tie).

This modern Slovak project is much more successful than that old plan over there.
Títo noví zahraniční študenti bývajú na rovnakom internáte ako my.
